Are TikTok Spark Ads really the đ?
I spent $1500 on a Spark Ad campaign and here are the results.
Hello there! If you donât know me, I am a PM turned creator with 440k+ followers (IG+Tiktok). Every week I share insights on how to leverage Tiktok/Reels to grow your company or personal brand :) I am few days late writing this post because I was waiting to compile the results of my Ad campaign. Without further adieu, letâs get right into it!
Tiktok Spark Ads
Last week I wrote about 5 different Ads you can run on Tiktok. And, we unanimously agreed that Tiktok Spark Ad is the cheapest way to get started! But if it is cheap, will it make it good? Letâs dive into it What are Spark Ads?Just to recap, Spark Ad were introduced in June 2021 to allow brands to boost organic content. It is similar to Boost for Facebook. A creator posts a video and then you can put the advertising dollars behind it to boost it.There are 3 reasons why both advertisers and consumers love Spark Ads
You can post multiple creatives organically and boost the one which has shown most engagement
The engagement metrics (liked, comments, etc) are retained so it adds more credibility to the ad
It is posted from the creatorâs profile so you can leverage the influencerâs trust. But, you can direct the click to your own landing page or for app downloads.

$1500 Campaign
I partnered up with one my clients and we decided to turn one of our previous sponsored posts into a Spark Ad.
Method
We kept it super simple. The product is for web and graphic designers so we created a campaign targeting people aged 18-44, interested in website design and located within North America
We used a lowest cost strategy and capped the limit to C$250/day. Essentially, thereâs no cap for the bid and Tiktok will run this ad on autopilot.
The other option was to use a Bid Cap strategy where you basically set the maximum price youâre willing to pay per view.
Results
CPM: ~$3.21 (C$4.29) CPM
Retention: ~34% watching for longer than 60% of video

Impressions vs Cost over timeNote: The reporting and budget is in Canadian$
We are planning on doubling our spend on this campaign through the next couple of weeks. Drop me a line if youâd be interested detailed report on this Ad campaign.
What do you think about these results? Do you want me to do any other tests?
